Annandale's Ossian Hall Park showcases Vietnamese culture

The sounds and colors of Vietnam filled the air at Ossian Hall Park in Annandale Saturday evening.

Vietnamese Cultural Heritage Night featured songs from different regions of the country, a Vietnamese martial arts demonstration (below), and a dance performance and fashion show, with styles created from paper, presented by students at George Mason University.

The event is part of the Fairfax County Park Authority’s summer entertainment series, which is supported by the Fairfax County Park Foundation.

Three more cultural heritage nights are scheduled for Ossian Hall Park this summer, celebrating the cultures of Korea (Aug. 11), West Africa (Aug. 18), and Peru (Aug. 25). The shows start at 7:30 p.m. An outdoor movie will be shown when it gets dark.

Those shows are part of the Mason District’s Spotlight by Starlight series, which also includes concerts on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday evenings and kids’ programs on Saturday mornings at Mason District Park. Several shows are scheduled through the end of August.

GMU students take part in a fashion show.
