Registration for Mason District Little League closes Aug. 15

The MDLL spring 2011 all-star team for 11-12 year-olds.
Hey kids, get off the couch and get ready to play ball! The deadline for registering for the fall season of the Mason District Little League (MDLL) is Aug. 15.
MDLL  provides teeball and baseball opportunities for boys and girls ages 4-12 in Annandale, Alexandria, and Falls Church communities. You can register online.
Baseball games mostly take place at Mason District Park in Annandale, Jeb Stuart Park in Falls Church, and Parklawn Elementary School. Teeball games are played on the fields at the Walnut Hill Administrative Center in the Westlawn community.

MDLL focuses on sportsmanship and character as well as the development  of baseball fundamentals. The league’s core values are: improve baseball skills, teach and enforce good sportsmanship and safety at all times, build character, gain a better appreciation and understanding of the game, andlast but not least, have fun!
In 2011, 355 boys and girls participated in MDLL. More than 10 percent were scholarship players. Through community outreach and a grant from the Neighborhood Enhancement Partnership Program, MDLL has added players and increased playing opportunities to the communities near Dowden Terrace, the Bailey’s Community Center, and Skyline Center.
Through a partnership with Fairfax County, MDLL has made improvements at Mason District Park, Dowden Terrace, and Parklawn Elementary School. MDLL also promotes good community citizenship by cleaning the fields after games and sponsoring clean-up days at local parks.
