Going holiday shopping this week? Pick up something extra for a hospitalized child. Local law enforcement officers will be going on their annual “Santa’s Ride” Dec. 11, via motorcycle, to collect donated toys, games, and books and deliver them to children at Inova Fairfax Hospital on Dec. 12 and Georgetown Hospital on Dec. 13.

You can drop off your items (they should be new and unwrapped) at the Mason District Police Station by 9 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 10.  Donations are also being accepted at other Fairfax County police stations and at police headquarters, at 4100 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax.

During the Santa’s Ride, officers will accompany Santa on a cruise by several schools throughout the county, including Sleepy Hollow Elementary.

Santa’s Ride is organized by the Fairfax County police motorcycle squad in collaboration with the Fairfax County Sheriff’sOffice, Virginia State Police, Fairfax City Police, Falls Church Sheriff’s Office, and the Town of Vienna Police.
