Penny Gros appointed principal of Glasgow Middle School

Penny Gross, meet Penny Gros. Things could get a little confusing around here, as Penny Gros, the newly appointed principal of Glasgow Middle School has a name nearly identical to that of long-time Mason Supervisor Penny Gross.

Gros starts her new job July 1, superseding Glasgow Interim Principal Jim Oliver. She has “significant experience as a teacher and administrator,” most recently as principal of Key Middle School from 2006 to 2011, “where she established a strong track record for increasing student achievement and innovating research-based instructional practices,” states a June 28 email to parents from Dan Parris, FCPS Assistant Superintendent for Cluster 3.

Gros completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, earning degrees in English and Spanish and has worked in schools in Texas and the District of Columbia. She spent the past two years working on a doctorate degree in educational leadership from Virginia Tech.
