Free concert at St. Albans features Indian/Jewish music fusion

St. Alban's
The public is invited to a free concert Sunday, Oct. 13, at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Annandale featuring the Om Shalom Trio, an award-winning world music ensemble that plays a fusion of classical Indian and Jewish folk music.

The show starts at 7 p.m. St. Alban’s is at 6800 Columbia Pike. The concert is part of the church’s Muldoon Concert Series.

Om Shalom will also present a master class Oct. 13, 3-4 p.m., at St. Alban’s for college and secondary school students, advanced music studio students, and adults interested in music collaboration. There is no charge for the class, but participants must register in advance via email to Muldoonconcerts@gmail.com.

The class will cover classical Indian, classical Western, and Jewish folk music; improvisation versus playing from sheet music; and a demonstration of the creative process with class participation. It is sponsored by St. Alban’s and ArtSpace Herndon.
