The long-vacant stand-alone building in the shopping center between Route 50 and Wilson Boulevard in Seven Corners that used be a Bennigan’s restaurant is getting a new occupant: An AAA Car Care, Insurance and Travel Center.
AAA Mid-Atlantic (part of the membership organization formerly known as the American Automobile Association) is requesting a zoning special exception to make modifications to the building and change its use. The proposal is expected to go to the Fairfax County Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors in October.
The new store will offer the same type of services provided by the AAA Car Care, Insurance and Travel Center that opened in Manassas in March, said AAA Mid-Atlantic spokesperson Jeanette Tejeda de Gomez. Those services include tune-ups, battery replacement, air conditioning, oil and filter changes, wheel alignment, auto glass repair, tire rotation, and other vehicle repairs and maintenance. AAA members receive discounts and better warranties on repairs.
The Manassas store also sells car, home, and life insurance. Travel services include maps, “TripTik” route plans for road trips, and help with booking hotels, rental cars, and cruises. Although these serves are also available on the AAA website, Tejeda says some people still like printed maps and prefer personal assistance with road trips.
Other nearby AAA Mid-Atlantic stores are on Main Street in Fairfax, in the Picket Shopping Center in the Landmark area, and on Old Courthouse Road in Tysons Corner.
