Police arrest man for gas station robberies

Fairfax County police have arrested a man in connection with two recent gas station robberies in Mason District and are investigating whether he is involved in two other similar incidents in the vicinity. Michael Emmanuel Joyner, 51, was charged with two counts of robbery and one count of “unauthorized use of a vehicle,” a police spokesperson confirmed.

The arrest, first reported by NBC Channel 4 News, involves robberies of the Braddock Road Convenience store at the Xtra gas station on Braddock Road and Hillcrest Place in Lincolnia and the Discount Zone Gas Station on Columbia Pike and Lincolnia Road earlier this month. In both incidents, the suspect threatened the cashier with a knife and there was a scuffle but there were no serious injuries.

    1. What in the WORLD makes you think that Michael Emmanuel Joyner is from some other country? Are you really that racist that you assume that if he committed an armed robbery, he can't possibly be a native-born American? Or are you advocating the death penalty for committing a robbery that left no serious injuries?

    4. For 8/1/14, 9:08 AM, where do you get off crying "racism" because somebody calls a man who repeatedly commits robs law-abiding citizens while brandishing a knife, and threatening their lives, a "SOB" and says they should be "returned to sender."

There is no question your priorities are upside down, and you have little sensitivity to the trauma caused to violent crime victims even if they are not left with physical scars.

    5. For 8.1.14 9:08am, what are you thinking, return to sender does not suggest another country, its a state of mind. I suggest you park your spaceship on earth or return yourself to the moon where you probably belong.

      Return to outer space

  3. Here here. Perhaps 9:08 is just jumping to conclusion because of the sad reality that so much of the crime in this area is being commited by outsiders and new comers. It's not racism to point to the stats and acknowledge the current realities of our changing landscape. Question is: what are we going to do about it come election day?
