National Night Out is on Aug. 4



Get to know your neighbors on National Night Out, Aug. 4. Community associations and HOAs throughout the nation are hosting cookouts, ice cream socials, and other gatherings, mostly between 6 and 9 p.m.

Officers from the Fairfax County Police Department and emergency personnel will be making the rounds at local NNO events to talk about crime prevention and safety and reinforce positive relationships with residents.

National Night Out is based on the idea that neighborhoods are better, safer places to live when residents know one another and trust the police and when there is a true sense of community. 

Here are some NNO events planned for the Annandale/Mason District area:
  • Annandale Shopping Center7042 Columbia Pike – movie and popcorn.
  • Adams Walk grassy area by Championship Court – cookout.
  • Bel Airthe entrance to Bel Air Park on Barrett Road – ice cream social.
  • Bristow Village the pool on Oriskany Drive – cookout.
  • Broyhill Crestpool on Early Street – open swim and ice cream floats.
  • Broyhill ParkWoodley Pool, Camp Alger Avenue – cookout.
  • Canterbury WoodsQueen Elizabeth Boulevard and Woodland Way – social gathering.
  • Cavalier Club ApartmentsWilson Boulevard – ice cream social.
  • Lafayette Village park at the end of Trammel Court – moon bounce and cotton candy.
  • Lakeside Plaza lobby at Powell Lane – open house and social.
  • Mantua Chichester Lane, Tovito Drive, Colesbury Place, Coronado Terrace, Ridgelea Woods, Midland Road, Swineburne Court, Acosta Road, Brookings Court, Lynn Regis Court, Alba Court, and Lido Place – block parties.
  • Olde Forge/Surrey Square Brandywine Swim Club on Helenwood Drive – ice cream social.
  • The Parliaments Apartmentsclubhouse on Eastmoreland Drive – movie and cookout.
  • Pinecrest Heights pool between Little River service road and Alpine Drive – potluck.
  • The Pinecrest gazebo on Pinecrest Vista Drive – cookout.
  • Ravensworth-Bristow Ravensworth Baptist Church – cookout.
