Vicious dog attacks and kills another dog

A local woman was arrested for having an unrestricted, dangerous dog after her pet attacked and killed another dog, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.

On July 5, a woman who had been walking her dog on the 3200 block of Wayne Road in the Westlawn area of Falls Church called the police at about 10:30 a.m. to say an unsecured dog attacked hers.

She was injured when she tried to separate the dogs and was transported to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Her dog died from its injuries on the scene.

Catherine Thao Nguyen, 28, of Falls Church, was charged with having an unrestricted dog and violating state law on dangerous dogs.

Officers from the FCPD’s Animal Services Division impounded the aggressive dog. It will remain at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter until the court hearing.

  1. This is one of my worst nightmares. I live in a neighborhood here in Annandale with lots of dogs and constantly see owners walking them without a leash. It is illegal and dangerous. Dogs are animals and when triggered can attack. LEASH YOUR DOGS, people!

  3. Well, I don't agree that all dogs will attack. But I don't trust weinerdogs (I have had a few), poodles and especially pits. It still boggles my mind that we have not outlawed pitbulls given their continual history of maulings. To think that a "sweet" pit cannot be triggered, I think is foolish. If that dog has any protective instinct for its owner, it is dangerous.
