Robbery, assault among weekend crimes

Several crimes occurred over the past few days in the Annandale/Mason District area, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

A man walking along the 3300 block of Peace Valley Lane in the Seven Corners area at midnight on Aug. 6 was approached by four men. One of the suspects demanded money and struck the victim. The three other suspects then began assaulting the victim.

All four then fled into a two-door red vehicle with Virginia plates. The victim had non-life-threatening injuries and refused medical treatment.

One suspect was described as 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall, and 130 to 160 pounds. He had medium length black hair and a beard and was wearing a white shirt and jeans. All four are thought to be Hispanic.

On Aug. 6, two people walking along the 6200 block of Little River Turnpike, near Landmark Plaza, at about 2 a.m. were approached by two men who assaulted and robbed them and then fled. Both victims had non-life-threatening injuries and one was transported to a local hospital.

One suspect was described as Hispanic or black, 18 to 25 years old, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, and 130 to 150 pounds. One suspect attempted to take property from the vehicle. When the victim stopped him, the suspect assaulted the victim. Both suspects, described as Hispanic, fled in what looked like an older-model black Acura with North Carolina plates. The victim was not injured.

A man walking along the 7900 block of Heritage Drive at 11 p.m. on Aug. 4 was robbed by two men. When the victim refused to hand over money, one of the suspects shot him with a pellet gun and took his wallet. The suspects fled on foot.

  1. Well, it seems that the lesson to be learned from this is that it's unwise to walk around Annandale alone after dark.

These thieves are, however, taking a lot for granted in the manner they're confronting their victims. If it were me, they'd be staring down the barrel of a pistol. I'm not a gun crazy. I don't support the NRA and I don't consider myself to be the next Charles Bronson. While I don't make a point of wandering around here after dark, sometimes it's unavoidable. That's why I recently acquired a concealed weapon permit. These types of crimes are becoming too common and it seems wise to anticipate the worst.

    2. Well if our elected officials did their job to keep us safe harbors and land we would not have to resort to returning to the wild wild west toting personal guns. It is the failure of our current leadership that is the reason why we are having all these Trumpsters.
