ABGC girls team wins state championship


The Annandale Boys and Girls Club’s under 19/20 girls team known as Extreme 98 (the Annandale United FC 98G) is the 2016-17 Virginia Youth Soccer Association State Cup Champion.

The team defeated the 98 Elite team from the Braddock Road Youth Club 3-1 in the championship match at the VYSA Virginia Soccer Training Center in Fredericksburg.

Mariana Hershner crossed into Jisca Adigo who put the ball in the net, scoring the ABGC team’s first goal. Olivia Bolton crossed the ball to Tiffany Linser who scored the second goal. Emily Schoka took a free kick, lifting the ball to Jisca Adigo who scored the final goal.

Coached since its beginning by Ann Germain, the team moves on to compete in the U.S. Youth Soccer National League and then represent the state in an Eastern regional competition in June.
