Annandale Wendy's closed for good

The Wendy’s restaurant at 4042 Little River Turnpike, in the Kmart parking lot, is permanently closed.

The owner of the Wendy’s franchise, NPC International, based in Overland Park, Kan., recently acquired 140 Wendy’s, primarily located in the Baltimore, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., markets, says Jerrod Mitchell, marketing director for Wendy’s at NPC.

“As part of the transaction, NPC has agreed to reinvest substantially into these markets to help re-energize the Wendy’s brand by remodeling 90 of the acquired restaurants by the end of 2021 and building 15 new Wendy’s restaurants by the end of 2022,” Mitchell says. “A minor component of this transition is the closing of a few locations due to expired leases.”

A note on the building advises customers to go to another nearby Wendy’s at 7530 Little River Turnpike, which is next to the Annandale Swim and Tennis Club.

  2. No surprise there. This place was never busy and their food often tasted stale.

It's strange how the buidling and signage is sitting back from the main road moreso than McD's right by it. Nor is well lit. You could easily drive by it on 236 not realize it's there.

    1. Second.

Wegmans would kill it at that location. Raze the whole bldg and lot of KMart. No brainer.

    2. I'm not sure they'd kill it - shopper demographics and area demographics don't exactly line up.

  4. Won't be going near the other place. This one was highly visible and felt safe to visit. And please - no more damned bank branches requiring free police protection that we all pay for. They need to start paying out more interest if they have so much money to burn.

  5. No! That's Wendys was there since forever! One of the few options to get late night food. I'm not surprised though they had the worst service ever. One time I wanted honey mustard sauce for my nuggets, and the guy was trying to get it out of their holder but it wouldn't come out easily. So he just shrugged his shoulders, saying it was stuck. Never seen such laziness or apathy in my life.

    1. Oh--I'm not a big beer drinker, but how awesome would that be?!

      I won't set my heart--or bet anything--on it, though.

    2. I'd get behind that! Although DF only has a handful of locations and they're fairly spread out, prob unlikely they'd put one so close. I'd also take a neighborhood wine/beer store. I'd happily pay a markup to avoid the parking lots at either total wine.
