What ever happened to the plan to build a park and playground at Poe Terrace Park, at the intersection of Little River Turnpike and Hillbrook Drive? A plan for the park prepared in 1984 (according to the FCPA website) but nothing has been done to property in the 29 years since then.
It's my understanding that the Hillbrook/Talls Oaks Community opposed that proposal.
I did not realize that the Fairfax County Park Authority ceded control of public lands to local community associations. Seriously, this "park" land is several acres which is essentially only serving the interests of HTOCA as a buffer to the traffic on Little River Turnpike. There are many families living outside the immediate neighborhood who would love to have another playground in the vicinity. If HTOCA wants to control the use of the land they should buy it. If they won't buy it and won't allow a public park, FCPA should sell it to a developer and use the money to improve the facilities at other parks in the area.

Hello Ms Ashford,Love the Blog. In the future when you update the school list, please be sure to add Westminster School on Gallows Road. It may be a private school but it has been in Annandale for 50+ years, offers an exceptional educational experience (pre-K through 8th grade) and is a great keystone of Annandale. Thank you!Evelyn StClair(lifetime Annandale resident)
