Bailey's Elementary seeks new principal

Shane Wolfe is leaving his position as principal of Bailey’s Elementary School for the Arts and Sciences in Bailey’s Crossroads, Fairfax County Public Schools Assistant Superintendent Dan Parris (Cluster 3) announced July 27. Wolfe has accepted a new job as principal of Aldrin Elementary School in Reston.

In an email to Bailey’s families, Wolfe wrote: “The decision to leave Bailey’s is not an easy one for me as I have come to love our school and our community more than anyone can imagine. However, given my recent health scare and time I have been away from my family, I have re-assessed my own need to be principal of a smaller school.”

Wolfe has been away from Bailey’s for several months during the past term on medical leave. During that time, Keith Hall, a retired FCPS assistant principal, filled in as interim principal. Hall will return to fill that role, beginning Aug. 1, until a new principal is in place and well established at Bailey’s, Parris states.

Wolfe was only at Baileys for two years, but during that time, he was recognized with the 2010-11 School Bell Award from the Virginia Association of Elementary School Principals. Wolfe is on the board of that organization and also is president of the Fairfax Association of Elementary School Principals. Before coming to Bailey’s, he was principal of Armstrong Elementary School in Reston.

  1. He probably got shocked at the conditions and decided to get out of Dodge! Not there too long.... He had to send custonians out daily to clean the trash up on the feild and playgrounds.

    1. "Custonians" and "feild" - someone needs to go back to elementary school and learn how to spell!

    2. A classic case of TWA - Typing While Angry.

  2. every school in FCPS has custodians who clean their playgrounds....
