The Edsall Park Swim Club is having a big end-of-summer Pool Party Blast Aug. 31, and you’re all invited.
There will be a whole day full of fun activities, including a pancake breakfast at 10:30 a.m., a cardboard regatta at 2 p.m., and a barbecue and chili cook-off 5 p.m.-8 p.m. The local band Swell will perform in the evening.
The pool is at 5505 Montgomery Street, Springfield, and is easily accessible from Edsall Road. The event is free for members of the Edsall Park Swim Club. Non-members can spend the day there for $5. Food and drink tickets are $20 for 20 tickets. Guests are asked to bring a can of food for the Annandale Christian Community for Action (ACCA).
Start collecting cardboard boxes and turn them into seaworthy vessels for the boat race. The regatta is at 2 p.m.; boat captains check in at 1 p.m. There will be team and individual competitions. Categories include youth singles (ages 8-14), youth teams (ages 8-14), open singles (ages 15 and up), and open group (ages 8 and up with one member at least 15 years old).
The entry fee is $10 to compete in the youth singles and open singles ($5 for pool members), $15 per youth team ($10 for members), and $20 per team in the open group ($10 for members).
Guests can enjoy the pool all day and evening (except during the regatta). See you there!
