EuroMarket in Seven Corners planning to expand offerings

Ansari Somani, the owner of EuroMarket at the Mobil station on 6318 Leesburg Pike in Seven Corners, is seeking a special exception to change the zoning designation from a “mini-mart” to a “full-service food store.”

That would allow the store to sell beer and wine. According to Somani, gas is not as profitable as it was five years ago. Somani also wants to add a larger food preparation area inside and provide more prepared items, like empanadas, saltenas, and breakfast sandwiches.

There would be no change in the size of the building and there won’t be any major renovations. The Mason District Land Use Committee is scheduled to consider the proposed zoning change Jan. 28. The Fairfax County Planning Commission would hold a hearing after that.

EuroMarket already has a lot of things not normally found in a convenience store attached to a gas station, such as fresh coconuts and other fruit, pastries, store-made subs, fresh carrot juice, cactus in a jar, tubs of ice cream, and men’s and women’s fragrances, among other things.
