Fire damages nail supply shop at Route 50 and Graham Road

More than 60 firefighter from Falls Church and Arlington, as well as Fairfax County, battled a two-alarm fire at Skyline Nail Supply at 7234 Arlington Blvd. Jan. 3 at about 4 p.m. The arctic weather conditions (about 20 degrees with a wind chill of about 5 degrees) made their job that much more challenging.

No one was injured. The shop, in Graham Center strip mall next to Graham Road, was heavily damaged. The fire did not spread to other stores, although they could have suffered smoke damage. Firefighters used compressed air foam to control the fire, due to the flammable chemicals inside the building, said a spokesperson for the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. Fire investigators haven’t yet determined the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.
