Create your own hot pot combo at Little Dipper restaurant

The Little Dipper Hot Pot, now open at 3000 Annandale Road in the Bill Page shopping center, offers a mix-and-match dining concept based on the Chinese hot pot cuisine.

Diners order an individual pot of soup with different base ingredients (like vegetables and tofu), select a meat (beef, pork, lamb, or seafood), a spice level, and various add-ons (rice, vermicelli, egg, tofu, or additional vegetables) to be cooked at your table.

And that’s the entire menu – although there are hundreds of combinations. The basic soup is $11.99 at lunch and $13.99 at dinner; there’s an additional charge for the meat and extra ingredients. Beverages include various types of tea and beer.

The Little Dipper is not part of a chain. In fact it’s the first restaurant opened by Kevin Liu, says his niece Rebecca Lam, who serves as manager.

It’s open 10 a.m.-11 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday and 11-11 on Friday and Saturday.

  1. Sounds delicious.
Got French bread from Lee's sandwich today ... it is amazing.

  2. This sounds like it might be a good choice for both an omnivore and a vegetarian. Thanks for the tip!

  3. Sounds great! I like being able to choose my ingredients. A little pricey, though. Thanks for sharing
