Community invited to show support for Orlando victims

The Mason Police District invites all Mason District residents to join a community photo to show support for the victims, families, communities, and first responders that have been affected by the tragic massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Fla., June 12.

The event takes place Monday, June 20, 6 p.m., at JEB Stuart High School stadium, 3301 Peace Valley Lane in Falls Church. Gates open at 5:30.

The photo will be taken from the police helicopter. The photo and the message, “Mason District Supports Orlando,” will be broadcast on social media with the #unitedwestand hashtag.

  1. Would love to be there, but same time as AHS graduation. How much does it cost to send up the helicopter to take a picture?

    1. I see where you're going with this. Why not just donate the money to whatever fund is going to the victim's families. Not a terrible question since I'm sure they'd prefer that over a picture.

    2. Exactly Adam, thoughts prayers and pictures don't pay the bills. I am pretty sure people have hospital bills, funeral expenses etc. A local blood drive would help more in my opinion. Blood donations always drop off in the summer time.

Also as a county tax payer, I don't think this is an appropriate use of the helicopter.
