Bambu to specialize in cold Vietnamese treats

The interior of Bambu is nearly completed.
Bambu, a dessert/coffee shop opening soon in central Annandale, will specialize in chè, a sweet, layered Vietnamese dessert drink made with coconut milk or coconut water.

Chè drinks have such ingredients as red beans, taro, pandan jelly, avocado, boba pearls, mung beans, lychee, and jackfruit.

Bambu, at 4220B Annandale Road next to Kogiya Korean BBQ, will have grand opening on June 2 and a soft opening on May 16.

Bambu promises to be a good place “to relax with family and friends and enjoy something refreshing,” says owner Thao Ny Nguyen. It will be open daily 8 a.m.-9 p.m.

Also on the menu: strong Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk, milk tea, fruit smoothies, mochi ice cream, pandan waffles, and frozen yogurt. Shaved ice will be added soon.

The first Bambu Desserts & Drinks outlet was founded in San Jose, Calif., in 2008 by four Vietnamese sisters. Since then it’s evolved into a franchise company with more than 50 locations in 14 states.

  1. Awesome! Sounds (and looks) like a nice place to hang out and try something a little different!
