Zoës Kitchen coming to Barcroft Plaza

Zoës Kitchen is coming to this vacant spot.

A new restaurant, Zoës Kitchen, is coming to the Barcroft Plaza on Columbia Pike in the vacant pad space next to Domino’s Pizza and Bank of America.

It is expected to open in early 2019, says Lucille Crowley of Federal Realty Investment Trust, the owner of the shopping center.

Zoës Kitchen is a fast casual franchise chain with a Mediterranean menu offering such items as salads, kabobs, pita sandwiches, family dinners, and bowls.

The company was founded in 1995 in Birmingham, Ala., and is now headquartered in Plano, Texas. Zoës Kitchen has are more than 200 locations across the country. There are 20 locations in Virginia, including Alexandria, Ballston, Fairfax, Herndon, Reston, and Vienna.

A heads-up to my vegetarian and vegan kin out there: some of the offerings on Zoe's menu that are noted as vegan or vegetarian may actually be presented in their meat-based form (ex: topped with chicken strips, grilled salmon, etc.) Some items that are standard lacto-ovo vegetarian (like the felafel pita) can be modified by leaving out things like tzatziki sauce & feta cheese. It would be wise to specify your preference when you place your order.

  5. As I was leaving Starbucks this morning, I saw the sign announcing Zoe's Kitchen was coming soon. I was so surprised that the laundromat is no longer there - that was really quick. I look forward to tasting their food!

  6. Glory Days has some excellent healthy choices too - their grilled chicken berry salad is one of the best I've ever had!

  8. For all of my Celiac friends out there … Zoe's in Fairfax has been very Celiac friendly. I sure hope the staff at this one will be as conscientious!
