Updated: Police released a sketch of the suspect (right) on Jan. 8.

Two young girls were assaulted in Annandale Jan. 5, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.

Two girls, age 11 and 13, were walking in the 7900 block of Charles Thomson Lane, near Americana Drive, around 6:30 p.m., when they were approached by a man. The suspect assaulted one of the girls by inappropriately touching her. He then tried to touch the other girl but she fought him off and he ran away.

The suspect was described as Hispanic, between 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 4-6 inches tall, with a heavy build, and short black hair. He was wearing a green vest, plaid long-sleeve shirt, and blue jeans.

An extensive search was conducted of the neighborhood with the help of the police helicopter and K9 unit. “Community members can expect to see an increase in officers in that neighborhood as we try to identify the suspect and obtain any information related to the case,” the FCPD states.

  1. Im glad to see Aikens taking on Gross. Maybe we will see our streets become safe again. Gross you can't blame a poor economy on the mess you hopefully will leave behind.

  2. Very disturbing. I so hope they get this bastard.

  3. Well, this has nothing to do with Gross. This is in Braddock District. But this area is challenged and should be getting more attention then it has been getting.
