Mason Republicans endorse Pafford for school board

Pafford
The Mason District Republican Committee on May 11 endorsed Tom Pafford as a candidate to represent Mason District on the Fairfax County School Board.

There will be a final vote for the GOP endorsement at a meeting of the Fairfax County Republican Committee on May 21.

At that meeting, the Mason District Committee will present its recommendation, and the FCRC members will decide whether Pafford or the other Republican contender for the Mason District school board seat, Linda Pelligrino, will be on the general election ballot.

Here are some highlights from Pafford’s blog:
  • Hillary Clinton’s book It Takes a Village “has a dark side,” Pafford writes. “Every evil recognized recognized and abhorred by our forefathers is allowed in the Village. Sex, porn, drugs, even murder are sanctioned and legalized. Outdated ‘Family Values,’ essential for the protection and discipline in a family-oriented society, are replaced with Civic Virtues: a greener planet for children to inherit, a place where every child is a winner, and the equality of ‘I’m OK, You’re OK.’”
  • Pafford warns that laws passed by states requiring schools to teach children about the “political, economic, and social contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals” could be promoted here.
  • He opposes books in school libraries that express the viewpoint of transgender children. He equates the acceptance of non-gender-conforming children with pedophilia.
Pafford describes himself on LinkedIn as a data analyst, technical writer, and “CEO of The World’s Technology.”

If Pafford does get on the Nov. 5 ballot, he would most likely face Democratic candidate Ricardy Anderson.

  1. Why does he look so evil, is he going to put our kids in cages?

  2. Probably a fine candidate, but I just have to laugh. Was that the best photo they could find? Looks like someone captured it from a concealed body cam, especially since he looks like a cartel boss here.

  4. I've said it before and I'll say it again: his entire platform seems to consist of gay-bashing and transphobia.

    1. Yep. Absolutely nothing on his website indicates he's interested in anything other than this. Frankly, his writings seem psychotic.

  6. Wow, such incisive political analysis! 'The guy looks crazy!' Well, he must BE crazy! Gather the pitchforks and torches; we need to run this crazy looking guy outta here! Obviously his ideas are different from many of the folks commenting here, maybe even crazy sounding, but you are not doing much to bolster your viewpoint with comments about his appearance in the published photo.

    1. You came to a blog comments section looking for incisive political analysis?

    2. Well, no, nor am I posting any, as I am not particularly politically incisive. But usually blog comments about a candidate or his platform have at least some sort of relevance, or they are tongue in cheek when pointing out something irrelevant like his appearance. The above posts did not strike me as attempts at silly humor, however, revealing a sad state of affairs with regards to both the state of political discourse and the dearth of good sarcasm in Annandale.

    3. All I can say is I wouldn't want to be left alone with him in a classroom, let alone my kid.

  7. So, let me get this right. The more liberal elements of this country (Democrats) for years were telling us, "Don't judge someone by the way they look. Judge them for who they are and their actions." Yet, these comments are filled with nothing but personal attacks on someone because of the way they look.

All I have to say is that if you're the author of one of these comments and you're a Democrat, congratulations! You have becomes as vile and despicable as any Republican against whom you would protest.

    1. A few commented on his looks. I, and others, commented on his viewpoints. Read his website, the guy is only obsessed with his anti-LGBT opinions and doesn't appear to have any serious concerns with actual education or budget.

  8. Justice Thurgood Marshall didn't send his sons to JEB Stuart H.S. They went to elite private schools. This didn't stop our School Board from naming our high school after him. Pafford is a taxpayer. It doesn't matter where his kids go to school. We all pay taxes for the SB to blow on political issues rather than spend money educating the students.

  9. Justice Marshall's children were born in the 1950's, Virginia certainly didn't want his kids at JEB Stuart back then. Heck they wasted $$$ in naming the HS JEB Stuart in the 1950s. Quite the non-sequitor eh?
