Annandale gets its first hot pot restaurant

O My Hot Pot & Bar, a new restaurant at 7324 Annandale Road in Annandale, could have a soft opening as early as Wednesday, says owner Eddie Sohn.

Sohn compares the hot pot concept at O My to “Asian fondue” with a mix of Korean, Chinese, and Thai flavors. Each place setting has a recessed cooking element. Diners choose from a selection of soup bases; meats (brisket, prime ribeye beef, pork, for example), seafood (shrimp, octopus, fish); noodles; rice; veggies; and toppings, and its all cooked at the table. There are vegetarian and vegan options, as well.

The all-you-can-eat menu would be $23.99 for adults, although that hasn’t been finalized yet, says Sohn, who has worked at several restaurants in Atlanta. The manager, Ben Gates, has experience at Kogiya in Annandale and Jinya Ramen Bar in the Mosaic District.

  1. I still don't get the business case for another restaurant like this - the Hot Pot on Annandale Drive is closing with less than a year. I think the market is pretty saturated with this specific offering (sadly, hot pot soup is phenom). Perhaps the A Blog can take a poll as to what types of restaurants people would like (I see lots of comments complaining about little options) and we can get that to prospective small business owners to inform their investments. I just hate to see people start a business that honestly, won't be around long.
