Youths arrested for breaking into school

Two youths were charged with breaking into Beech Tree Elementary School shortly before 3 a.m. on Aug. 8, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.

Multiple motion alarms went off inside the school, and officers saw three people running out of the school and onto an adjacent field. The FCPD helicopter helped located two suspects hiding in bushes.

An 18-year-old resident of Falls Church was charged with trespassing, obstruction, and unlawful entry. Petitions will be sought for the other suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile. Officers are following up on leads to identify the third person involved.

FCPD also reports a burglary at an occupied dwelling in the 8600 block of Tobin Drive in Annandale. A man entered the home shortly after noon on Aug. 7 and stole personal property. A caretaker observed the suspect as he ran away. He was described as of average build, approximately 5 feet 7 inches, and wearing a white mask.

UPDATED Aug. 8/14/19: The name of the 18-year-old was removed from this post  at his request.
